Over two long, often sodden days, crews moved a 400-ton, four-story apartment building from West Dayton Street to West Mifflin Street. The job started at 5 a.m. Thursday and finished up well past midnight on Saturday morning.Â

Extracting this four-story brick apartment building from its perch at 438 W. Dayton St. proved a monumental challenge Thursday, as workers spent 12 hours just getting it onto the street. The trip to its new home a block and a half away on West Mifflin Street has been pushed back to Friday. To make way for the move, city forestry workers had to cut down a tree across the street.
