DEFOREST — The freezer alone, where the temperature is a constant -10, can hold 5,000 pallets of frozen pizza, ice cream and waffles.
The new Kwik Trip distribution center in DeForest includes four rooms in which bananas are ripened using ethylene gas. It takes about 24 hours to ripen 320,000 pounds of bananas, which are then shipped to more than 900 stores. The facility, which began receiving products last week, is still waiting on its first shipment of bananas.
