SSM Health starts postpartum wristband program for earlier detection of health issues after childbirth

Alyssa Smith gave birth to her son on Feb. 4 at SSM Health St. Clare Hospital in Barabo, and received an orange "Post-Birth Alert" wristband to wear for up to six months to aid in early detection of any potentially life-threatening postpartum health complications.

The orange "Post-Birth Alert" wristbands are given to women after delivering babies at SSM Health St. Clare Hospital. They are intended to make first responders and medical staff aware of potential postpartum heath issues.

"The moms that we have come across who we have given the bracelet to are happy to wear it," said Dyana Tillinger, the family birth suites charge nurse at St. Clare Hospital.
