A man charged with attempted homicide after firing his gun from one moving car to another on a well-traveled Far East Side Madison road in 2019 pleaded guilty Tuesday to recklessly endangering safety and was sentenced to two years in prison.
With credit for time served, Michael J. Ware, 35, will serve less than a year, followed by three years of supervision, under a deal with prosecutors. Three other felony charges and nine misdemeanors from a total of four cases going back to 2015 were dismissed, and he pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors — one for criminal damage to property and one for carrying a concealed knife.

At about 10:20 p.m. Monday, police were dispatched on a report of an ongoing disturbance in the 5600 block of Schroeder Road and arriving officers found a group of 20 to 30 people involved in the disturbance, officer Michael Malloy said in a statement.

A Cottage Grove man was arrested for operating while intoxicated after crashing into a house in town of Christiana, the Dane County Sheriff’s Office reported.
At about 9:40 p.m., Robert D. Brend, 36, lost control of his 2007 Lexus ES and struck a house at 2860 Highway W in the town of Christiana, Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Elise Schaffer said in a report.
Sex offender gets 262 months in federal prison for distributing child porn
A man previously convicted of sexually assaulting children was sentenced Thursday to 262 months in federal prison for distributing child pornography, according to the officer of Timothy M. O’Shea, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin.
Thomas E. Kerl, 39, of Redgranite, also was sentenced to 25 years of supervised release by U.S. District Judge William M. Conley. Kerl pleaded guilty on Feb. 25, O’Shea reported.
