“Carrie: The Musical,” a play based on Stephen King’s iconic novel, opens at 7:30 p.m. today at Carthage College’s Wartburg Theatre, on the north side of the campus, 2001 Alford Park Drive. “Carrie” focuses on the tumultuous life of Carrie White, a high school outcast with a mysterious gift. As she grapples with the challenges of adolescence, she discovers the true extent of her extraordinary powers. Set in a small town high school, this production delves into complex themes of bullying, empowerment and the consequences of unbridled rage. The show runs for two weekends, Sept. 29 through Oct. 7.
