The spongy moth, formerly known as the gypsy moth and seen in its caterpillar form, is an established invasive insect that defoliates more than 300 species of trees and shrubs including oaks, birch, lindens, crabapple, aspen, willow. It has again been discovered in southeast Wisconsin.
