WASHINGTON — As President-elect Donald Trump's pick for attorney general, Pam Bondi, took questions from senators Wednesday, only about 2 in 10 U.S. adults were "extremely" or "very" confident that the Department of Justice will act in a fair and nonpartisan manner during his second term, a poll finds.

The AP-NORC poll of 1,147 adults was conducted Jan. 9-13, using a sample drawn from NORC's probability-based AmeriSpeak Panel, which is designed to be representative of the U.S. population. The margin of sampling error for adults overall is plus or minus 3.9 percentage points.
