Restaurant Week's Charity Check program gives to local nonprofits
Those who dine or order take out at participating locations
during Lake Geneva Restaurant Week can help their favorite local
nonprofit.

It's a unique way to help local nonprofits by deciding which one will receive a $2,500 cash donation.
The Charity Check Ballot program is part of Visit Lake Geneva's annual Lake Geneva Restaurant Week, which is April 18-26.
During Restaurant Week, guests who dine or order takeout from participating restaurants will receive a ballot to vote for a nonprofit of their choice.
The four nonprofits that receive the most votes at the end of Restaurant Week will each receive a $2,500 donation, courtesy of Charity Check sponsor Tito's Handmade Vodka.
According to a Visit Lake Geneva press release, Tito's is returning as a Charity Check sponsor for a sixth year, donating a total of $48,000 to Charity Check winners since 2021.
Local 501c3 non-profit organizations are invited to submit an application to be considered for the Lake Geneva Restaurant Week Charity Check Ballot.

Applications will be accepted through April 1.
Leading up to and during Lake Geneva Restaurant Week 2026, participating non-profits will be featured on LakeGenevaRestaurantWeek.com and the Visit Lake Geneva social media channels.
Geneva Lake Arts Foundation's Spring Art Show through April 12

Art by Geneva Lake Arts Foundation members is the focus of Spring Art Show, the latest exhibit at Gallery 223 in downtown Lake Geneva.
Open now through April 12, the show is a function of the nonprofit foundation, which owns and operates the gallery at 223 Broad St.
Paintings, drawings, photography, pottery, glassworks, jewelry, sculptures and more works by foundation members will be on display during gallery hours.
Sandra Fink May is one of the foundation members.
A full-time artist since retiring from teaching in 2012, Fink May joined the Geneva Lake Arts Foundation that same year. She grew up in southeastern Wisconsin, according to a foundation press release.
Currently, Fink May lives in northern Illinois.
The abstract painter and sculptor explores mixed media on canvas, continually inspired by working with repurposed and found materials.
The foundation stated that artwork of Fink May has been represented in galleries and exhibitions across the nation.
It is held in private collections throughout the United States and Great Britain.
To visit the exhibit, visit Gallery 223 during its normal hours, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Fridays-Mondays.

Two candidate forums scheduled in Lake Geneva this month
Residents can hear from candidates ahead of the April 7 election during two forums this month.
At 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 12, mayoral, First District aldermanic and Third District aldermanic candidates will be at Horticultural Hall, 330 Broad St. Doors open at 6 p.m.Â
The forum is being organized by Beverly Leonard, co-owner of Delaney Street Mercantile, and moderated by Adam St. Marie, president of the Lake Geneva Board of Park Commissioners.
At 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, mayoral candidates will be at Horticultural Hall.Â
The forum is being hosted by the League of Women Voters Whitewater Area and will be moderated by Dwight Watson, an education professor a the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.Â
Absentee voting to be conducted at Lake Geneva residential care facilities
Lake Geneva officials will be administrating absentee voting at several local residential care facilities.
Absentee voting will be off ered at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, at Geneva Lake Manor, 211 S. Curtis St.; and at 1:30 p.m., March 17, at Golden Years, 611 Harmony Drive.
Voting also will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, at Arbor Village of Geneva Crossing, 201 Townline Road.
Return visits will be conducted, if necessary, at 1 p.m. March 18, and Monday, March 23.
Special voting deputies appointed by Lake Geneva officials will be administrating absentee voting for residents of the residential care facilities for the April 7 spring election.
Representatives of the Lake Geneva Middle School National Junior Honor Society and counseling department are collecting items for their Care Closet Drive through Friday, March 13.
Some of the items that are being collected include deodorant, toothpaste, dental floss, toothbrushes, shampoo, hair conditioner and lotion.
Students may drop off items at a collection box located outside of the school's library.
Residents may donate items at the Lake Geneva Middle School's main office, 600 N. Bloomfield Road, or the Lake Geneva Schools district office, 208 E. South St.

Walworth County residents needed for Adopt-A-Highway program
The Walworth County Public Works Department is inviting individuals, families, businesses and civic organizations to Adopt-a-Highway.
The program involves volunteering to clean litter at least three times per season on a stretch of roadway that is two miles or less.
There are segments available for adoption on Walworth County highways A, B, C, D, DD, ES, K, M, O and X.

Walworth County conducting Death Cafe program with agencies
Officials from the Aging and Disability Resource Center of Walworth County are partnering with East Troy Area Intergenerational Community Center and Citizens Bank of Mukwonago to off er Death Cafe, a social program dedicated to destigmatizing conversations associated with death.
The program takes place monthly on the third Tuesday of every month, from 3 to 4 p.m., at the East Troy Area Intergenerational Community Center, 2043 Division St., Door No. 7, East Troy.
The program includes tea, cake and conversations about death.
"We're thrilled to build on the success of our Living with Death program," said Jake Sawyers, dementia care specialist at the ADRC, in a press release. "After the October Living with Death event, participants expressed a strong interest in having these meaningful conversations more regularly. We're proud to now off er the monthly Death Cafe in our community, providing a welcoming space for ongoing discussion."

Beach wristband QR code program OK'd

Members of the Lake Geneva City Council have approved a Riviera
Beach wristband pass program, which will allow beach patrons to
receive information about businesses and tourists attractions
located in the area.

The Lake Geneva City Council unanimously approved adding a QR code to Riviera Beach wristbands during its meeting Feb. 23.
The code link to www.visitlakegeneva.com, which features information about area restaurants, businesses, hotels, events and tourist attractions.
"We want these people to come back. So, we want them to visit the hotels. We want them to visit the other things going on," Alderwoman Catherine Stoodley said. "This is the best single exposure for people sitting on the beach who are not doing anything else at the time."
The cost of the program, about $2,931, will be split between the city and VISIT Lake Geneva.
