Walworth-based Ingalls-Koeppen Post 102 conducted a full slate of morning Memorial Day activities on Monday, May 27, including parades in Walworth and Fontana and solemn Memorial Day observances at Cobblestone Cemetery and Brick Church Cemetery in the Town of Walworth, Walworth Center Cemetery in the Village of Walworth, and at Reid Park in Fontana.
The post, which serves Walworth, Fontana and Williams Bay, is commanded by Peter Kahl.

Vintage Jeep in 2024 Memorial Day parade at Walworth
During World War II, Toledo, Ohio-based Willys-Overland Co. produced 363,000 general purpose (G.P.) or "Jeeps" for the U.S. military from 1941-1945, with the versatile go anywhere, do anything vehicles quickly becomeing a favorite of thousands of Allied soldiers around the world. A successor Jeep model was built in 1950-1951 for use in the Korean War. This restored Jeep was driven in Ingalls-Koeppen American Legion Post 102's May 27 Memorial Day parade in memory of U.S. Air Force veteran Donald A. Sherman (1901-2001).

Looking to improve safety and security at Fontana Elementary School, the Fontana Joint 8 School District Board of Education on May 13 approved a not-to-exceed $450,000 low bid from Beloit-based general contracting firm Corporate Contractors, Inc. (CCI) to proceed with the proposed summer facility improvement project.
