Minnesota scored in the third period and overtime to complete a sweep of the Badgers at the Kohl Center.
A lead after the second period was close to a sure thing for the Badgers last season. Losing to Minnesota in that situation Saturday stung.
Daniel Laatsch's second overtime goal of the season helped the Badgers escape a pair of blown leads in the third period.
Ryland Mosley saved the Badgers from a loss with a goal in the final minute but they couldn't find an overtime winner against Alaska Anchorage.
A draw wasn't the result the Badgers wanted but it was much better than what was staring them in the face late in regulation.
The University of Wisconsin men's hockey team had the chance to pull an upset off over the No. 1 team in the country on Friday and did not let the moment slip.Â
Tommy Scarfone earned his 10th career shutout in his 100th collegiate appearance, and the Badgers continued an upturn with an upset of Michigan State.
