The deaths of seven horses at the home of the Kentucky Derby has once again intensified the debate over the safety of horse racing.
Baffert headed to the winner’s circle on the same day that his colt Havnameltdown went down with a fatal left leg injury in an undercard race.
The sequence of events began when the No. 3 horse, Dial Uncle Joey, clipped heels and ran up onto the heels of the horse racing directly in front of her.
