UN: Afghanistan is world's most repressive country for women
The United Nations says that since the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan, the country has become the most repressive in the world for women and girls. Here are scenes from women working in a carpet factory in Kabul.

The United Nations says that since the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan, the country has become the most repressive in the world for women and girls.
The White House released a 12-page summary of the results of the "hotwash" of policies around the ending of the U.S.'s longest war.
Hundreds of Afghans are languishing in Albania, waiting for the U.S. visas they were promised, almost two years after fleeing the Taliban takeover of their country.Â
As Kabul fell to the Taliban in August 2021, colleges, universities and other groups across the U.S. began piecing together scholarships to help students. Now, many Afghan students are nearing graduation at U.S. schools and planning their futures.Â
Other recent curbs on the rights and freedoms of women and girls barred them from education, public spaces and most forms of employment.
A suicide bombing at a political rally on Pakistan’s border with Afghanistan has killed at least 44 people and wounded nearly 200 in an attack that a senior leader said was aimed at weakening the Islamist party.
