Fans say Wisconsin men's basketball proved a lot with win at Ohio State

  • Jan 10, 2024 Updated Feb 21, 2024

The Badgers are off to their best Big Ten start since the 2012-13 season and remain atop the league standings. It came with maybe their most impressive win.

Amazing start to Big Ten play continues

Huge road win against a tough team. Such a deep Badger squad. Good to see guys step up when some having an off-night. Klesmit on fire. Still alone atop the Big Ten. #OnWisconsin

— Manu Raju (@mkraju) January 11, 2024

Dominant closing stretch

Badgers improved to 4-0 in the Big Ten thanks to a hot shooting Max Klesmit who took over the 2nd half scoring after Wisconsin went cold for several minutes. Bucky outscored OSU 19-4 in the final 5 minutes. Klesmit with 18pts.

— Jeff Ostach☮️ (@jeff_ostach) January 11, 2024

Chef Gard in the kitchen

Great road win!

10 of 11 on FTs is awesome

Only 5 turnovers, just 1 in 2H

Max was ridiculous in 2H

STORR was great in 1H

This team is deep AF

Winter with 7 points was exactly what we needed from him

Starting to love what Gard is cooking here!

— chuckwestover (@chuckwestover) January 11, 2024

Fouls and FTs were basically even

Gard is so good that he can win on the road when it’s 5 on 8.

— Más Tequila (@JoRy_MaMa) January 11, 2024

Oreo and a dairy company need to come together

Get AJ Storr an NIL deal with Oreo, because that man can dunk

— Blake R. Weiner (@BlakeWeiner) January 11, 2024

Classic to win the defensive end

Bucky kicks butt! Impressive road win. 2-0 on road in Big 10 at MSU and OSU. A 19-4 run clinched it. More weapons on offense but difference in game was awesome defensive effort.

— Dennis Semrau (@DennisSemrau) January 11, 2024

Hockey light!

pic.twitter.com/YHAaybuNOf

— Ben Bromley (@ben_bromley) January 11, 2024

Or anyone, really

Max Klesmit … the only way Buckeyes fans would’ve found him more annoying was if he was wearing maize and blue.

— Rob Hernandez (@RobHernandezGLF) January 11, 2024

Weathered a storm

Impressive. Overcame runs by Ohio State, a sub par Crowl and some bad officiating calls and still came out with an impressive road win.

— Doug Clemann (@DougClemann) January 11, 2024

Any given half, more like it

Any road win in the B1G is gold. This team is so deep that on any given night anyone can be the hero. First half it was Storr, second half it was Klesmit.

— Russ Evansen (@waunaruss) January 11, 2024

An all-around victory

Depth of team really showed up tonight. No stars, just solid basketball players

— Thömas A. Miller (@UWBone24) January 11, 2024

Last line is key

Very impressive!!

Gimpy crowl, classic FG drought, and sletchy refs (OSU got every 50/50 call!) ... and still won. Last year's team would have lost.

— Nick P Bassill (@NickPBassill) January 11, 2024

Best since '15?

Max continues to come up big (offensively and defensively) when it matters the most. This Badgers team is the best we have had in a while.

— Rick Tange (@rktange) January 11, 2024

There's our answer

Remarkably this team has 5 real scoring options that could all carry the team. This is the most athletic team since the final four runs. If Wisconsin wants to be a serious contender they have to play winter more in b10 play - if he can hold his own massive upgrade over Gilmore

— JLC (@caspert1013) January 11, 2024

Why wish that upon us?

Glad they were able to rally after a 2022/2023-esque field goal drought. I would still like to see this team win a game that comes down to the last possession, but I’m not mad at Max for making it a little more comfortable

— Brendon Fanning (@BrendonFanning) January 11, 2024

Or just an electric finish

Aj Storr bringing down the thunder at the end to let the refs know they called a terrible game.

— Brad Keenan (@bkeenan8) January 11, 2024

Let them have fun!

Big fan of the AJ Storr dunk to end the game

— Michael Gutowski (@michaelgutz) January 11, 2024

Hahaha, Giannis gonna recruit Badgers?

Defense wins. Wish the Bucks understood that

— mrpackerguy (@mrpackerguy) January 11, 2024

Especially in the Big Ten

Double digit win on the road is impressive.

— Curt Rees, PhD (@CurtRees) January 11, 2024

No holes in Wisconsin so far

A tremendous second half performance and the system discipline of UW was the difference. OSU has regular bad possessions where they take horrible shots and it costs them all the time. Just like IU, Maryland, PSU, NU, Michigan, Iowa, Nebraska and Illinois.

— Bret P. Tangley (@BretPTangley) January 11, 2024

Remarkable, really, after last year

Big growth game. Fought through things not coming easy. Steven hobbling Tyler fouling 7 min without a FG. Stood up through it all to win one that could have gone the other way.

— Dave Wolff (@DWolff1961) January 11, 2024

Take what the defense gives ya

Love the way that Klesmit took over the game in the 4th quarter. He plays with passion. Going forward hope the Badgers focus on going to the basket, getting fouled, and not relying on the 3.

— John Husmoe (@JohnHusmoe) January 11, 2024

Good call

I am reminded of Fast Eddie in The Hustler, after the Badgers came from behind n 1st 1/2: “I don't rattle, kid. But just for that I'm gonna beat you flat.” This Badgers team plays 2 win. This was a solid win. Keep it going Badgers.

— Paul Yochum'63 (@PaulYochum63) January 11, 2024

Inside out is key

Great decision to get the ball inside during the scoring drought kept them in the game. Max came up big.

— JG (@brewersausage) January 11, 2024

Satisfied indeed

Jim, that was a satisfying win!! Definitely shows the tenacity of this team and how much they've grown in the last month. Also great that others came thru with a less than 100% Crowl.

— Dr. Horror (@popculturepsych) January 11, 2024

What would we have thought last year hearing this?

Didn’t seem like it would, but streak of 70+ continues! So balanced

— Robb M (@robbm02) January 11, 2024

Who would've thought?

7 minute scoring drought in be second half. Still won by 11? I’ll take it!

— Jessica Garvey (@j_garvey1213) January 11, 2024

Moving up seed lines

Impressive toughness. Klesmit showed up big. Added another huge road win for that resume.

— Adam Schense (@Adam_Schense) January 11, 2024

Probably an overlooked stretch

Road wins are always good. So important to be solid at the foul line; it gets you through shooting droughts, as it did for the Badgers tonight.

— Joseph Britt (@Zathras3) January 11, 2024

Defense clutched up

They have so many guys that can beat you. They weathered Thorton and Battles hot start and found a way to win. Super impressive. Great game from Winter too.

— Tranquil Chaos (@TuckerChicken18) January 11, 2024

Admittedly, I laughed

pic.twitter.com/nuN2PWXisi

— BK (@bkleppe83) January 11, 2024

There was a lot to that game

They overcame SO much adversity to beat a good team on the road. What’s not to like?

— Jon Cherney (@CherneyJon) January 11, 2024

Second-half swings proved plenty

This probably told you more about this team than any game this year. From being down 56-52 to slam the door and outscore them 19-4 to close the game. They simply were not going to take a loss.

— Tony (@TStrobe78) January 11, 2024

How special? We'll see!

After last season, it’s so nice to see this team have multiple scoring options, even in crunch time. Tonight, it was Klesmit’s turn.

Bodes well for a special kind of season.

— Madtown Alum (@madtownalum) January 11, 2024

Big Ten's best!

Alone in first place I love it!
4-0 Baby! This Wisconsin team is solid! They can win even on an off shooting night, and that’s a sign of a great team! Max Klesmit does everything for this team. He’s the teams Swiss Army knife! On, Wisconsin!
