The Wisconsin Natural Resources Board (NRB) will meet in-person for the May board meeting to consider proposed rulemaking documents and land donations.
The meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, originating from public meeting room G09, State Natural Resources Building (GEF2), 101 S. Webster Street, Madison, Wis.
The board will act on items 1-4 and 7 as listed on the agenda, available at https://dnr.wisconsin.gov/About/NRB/2024/May.
The public is encouraged to watch the May board meeting on the DNR's YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlRQRHinV_8.
The deadline to register for public appearance requests and to submit written comments is 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15. Remote testimony from the public via Zoom may be accepted. In-person public appearances are also welcome.
During the May meeting, several items the board will be considering include:
- Request adoption of Board Order WA-13-21, proposed rules affecting Chapters NR 500, 502, 542 and 544 related to statewide materials recycling and effective recycling programs.
- Land Donation and Project Boundary Expansion – Richard Bong State Recreation Area – Kenosha County.
- Land Donation – Cross Plains State Park – Ice Age National Scenic Reserve – Dane County.
The Board will also receive an informational update on Wisconsin's elk herds and the 2024 elk season quotas.

In addition to being encouraged to watch the upcoming meeting, there are opportunities for the public to testify and to submit written comments about issues that come before the NRB.

The 1,200-mile Ice Age National Scenic Trail passes through northwestern Walworth County near Whitewater in the Kettle Moraine State Forest-Southern Unit. Ice Age Trail yellow blaze marker
Signature yellow blazes mark the 1,200-mile Ice Age Scenic National Trail as it meanders its way through Wisconsin. This marker identifies a turn in the trail along the 4.6-mile Whitewater Lake Trail in northwestern Walworth County near Whitewater. The Ice Age Trail is one of 11 national scenic trails.
