Weather Alert

...AREAS OF FLOOD WATER REMAIN THIS MORNING...

Heavy rainfall from thunderstorms occurring last evening and early
this morning have resulted in numerous areas of standing water.
While rainfall will end near or just after 6 AM, it will take
several additional hours for flood waters to recede and work through
local drainage systems. Flood waters will take the longest to recede
in urban areas and low-lying spots. Heed any road closures through
the morning commute and never drive through flooded roadways.
Improvement in standing water should occur by early this afternoon.

...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 PM CDT THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall has occurred, leaving
numerous areas of standing water in the warned area. Standing
water has resulted in road closures.

* WHERE...A portion of southeast Wisconsin, including the following
counties, Jefferson, Milwaukee, Racine, Walworth and Waukesha.

* WHEN...Until 100 PM CDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Roads remain closed due to flooding. Low-water crossings
are inundated with water and may not be passable. Expect areas of
slow moving or standing water. It will take several additional
hours for water to work through local drainage systems.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 514 AM CDT, Heavy rain has occurred from last evening's
and this morning's storms in the warned area. Flooding is
ongoing in the warned area. Between 1 and 4 inches of rain
have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 0.1 inches are possible in the
warned area.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Milwaukee, Waukesha, West Allis, Wauwatosa, New Berlin,

Weather Alert

...FLOOD WATCH EXTENDED IN SOUTHEASTERN AREAS...

Additional shower and storm development is forecast through the
overnight hours, with activity gradually tapering after sunrise this
morning. Expecting that additional rainfall totals will remain at or
below a half inch in many locations, though localized additional
rainfall totals between 1-2 inches are possible in locations
impacted by the heaviest thunderstorms and any repeated
redevelopment. Given already saturated conditions, particularly over
the southeast half of the region after last night's storms, this
additional rainfall will lead to quick runoff and additional
urban/small stream & potential flash flooding impacts. With
thunderstorm potential most favored over far south-central and
southeastern Wisconsin, the Flood Watch has thus been extended until
1 PM this afternoon from Rock, Jefferson, Washington, and all
counties south and east to the Illinois border. Flood Watch remains
in effect through 7 AM in areas further north and west.

...FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.

* WHERE...Portions of south central and southeast Wisconsin,
including the following counties, in south central Wisconsin,
Rock. In southeast Wisconsin, Jefferson, Kenosha, Milwaukee,
Ozaukee, Racine, Walworth, Washington and Waukesha.

* WHEN...Through this afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Flooding and flash flooding is possible from thunderstorms
with heavy rain on saturated ground
- http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood
Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared
to take action should flooding develop.
