Fontana Garden Club awards scholarships

scholarship from the Fontana Garden Club on May 11.
The Fontana Garden Club awarded $22,450 in scholarships and
grants in 2025. Funding for the grants and scholarships comes from
the club's annual Garden Fair, which is scheduled for 9 a.m. to
2 p.m. May 23 at Pearce's Farm Stand, W5740 N. Walworth
Road.
The Fontana Garden Club awarded scholarships to two students during its May 11 meeting at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, 137 Dewey Ave. Elkhorn Area High School student Genevieve White and Big Foot High School student Rebecca Konkel each received a $3,000 scholarship. Big Foot High School student Lydia Farence also received a $3,000 scholarship from the garden club but was unable to attend the meeting. The club provides scholarships to students who plan to study environmental science, agriculture, horticulture or environmental sustainability after graduating high school. Members also award grants to help schools and other organizations support outdoor education programs. Funding for the grants are raised during the club's annual Garden Fair, which is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 23 at Pearce's Farm Stand, W5740 N. Walworth Road in Walworth.
