FONTANA — Those who have not visited the Waterfront at The Abbey Resort will be in for a surprise.
Waterfront now has a new look, thanks to what the resort called in a recent press release "a comprehensive refresh" intended to enhance the guest experience and the connection between the restaurant and the harbor at The Abbey.
Located at 269 Fontana Blvd., Fontana, The Abbey gave Waterfront a new layout, with new floors, updated decor, redesigned indoor and outdoor furniture and upgraded the deck with new fire tables, expanded seating and a new stage and dance floor.
"With Waterfront, the goal was to elevate everything guests already love about this space while introducing thoughtful updates that reflect today's dining experience," said Bryan Hill, director of food and beverage for The Abbey Resort. "From the design to the menu to the entertainment, every detail was considered to create a vibrant, welcoming destination on the lake for our guests and the local community."
Floor-to-ceiling windows anchor the space, offering unobstructed views of the marina and Geneva Lake, according to The Abbey's press release. The bar was updated, while wood accents, modern finishes and coastal-inspired details were also added.
Waterfront is a cornerstone of The Abbey's dining portfolio, a casual, energetic contrast to elevated cuisine and wine-focused 240 West.
Walworth County's Land Use and Resource Management department, in partnership with the Geneva Lake Environmental Agency and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, will host a free watercraft inspection training from 10 a.m. to noon June 4 at Walworth County Government Center, Room 214, 100 W. Walworth St. in Elkhorn.
The Clean Boats, Clean Waters program addresses the spread of aquatic invasive species in Wisconsin's lakes.
Boaters and anglers can learn about how and where invasive species are most likely to enter waterways, how to perform boat and trailer checks for invasive species, and how to collect and report the presence of any new invasive species in local waterways.
"The Clean Boats, Clean Waters training is aimed at educating individuals interested in becoming volunteer boat inspectors at our local public boat launches," Land Use and Resource Management Deputy Director Mandy Bonneville said in a news release. "These volunteer inspectors are the frontline defense against aquatic invasive species, reminding boaters to inspect their watercraft and remove all plants and animals from their boat, trailer, and other equipment."
Volunteer inspectors will be at the county's public boat landings throughout the summer.
