Big fun
Taco Fest Lake Geneva 2024 — Friday, Sept. 13, 4-9 p.m.; Saturday, Sept. 14, 11 a.m.-9 p.m.; and Sunday, Sept. 15, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Lake Geneva House of Music, N3241 County Road H, town of Geneva. The fourth annual Taco Fest features dozens of vendors, a Best Taco award, pepper-eating contest, mechanical bull rides, a lowrider car show, rides, games and more. Plus performances by Mariachi alas de America, Pulpa de Guyaba, Julio César, Dance Academy of Mexico, Adrianna and the Boyz, Rico: A Tribute to Santana, Duerto Mar y Sol and Grupo Ritual. Advance tickets: $10 Sept. 13, or $12.50 at the gate and $5 for ages 6-12; $12.50 Sept. 14, or $15 at the gate and $7.50 for ages 6-12; and free Sept. 15. Go to lgtacofest.com.
Scarecrow Fest 2024 — Saturday, Sept. 14, all day, various downtown Delavan locations. Live music, dance performances, Gee Funny Farm Petting Zoo, Guided Walldog Mural Tour, Storybook Spring & Stroll, a duck raffle, free pumpkins, the Scarecrow Walk, a vendor & craft fair, car show, food vendors and more. Also, Aram Public Library has its 5k Fun Run/Walk, Storybook Sprint and Stroll. Registration starts 7 a.m., the run/walk begins at 8 a.m. People can make scarecrows for the event, which will be on display along Walworth Avenue. Autumn Harvest Festival — Saturdays and Sundays only, now through Oct. 27, The Elegant Farmer, 1545 Main St., Mukwonago. People can pick from the Farmer’s 12 varieties of apples right from the tree; select a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch; take a hayride, pony ride or train ride courtesy of the East Troy Electric Railroad; try specialty foods and more. Fat Tire Charity Ride — Saturday, Sept. 21, starts 9 a.m. at Champs Sports Bar & Grill, 747 W. Main St., Lake Geneva.; or The Ridge Hotel, W4240 Highway 50, town of Geneva. A 21.5-mile ride, rain or shine, through Lake Geneva, Fontana and Williams Bay, with views of Geneva Lake and Lake Como. Participating businesses include Champs, The Owl Tavern, Gordy’s Boat House, Chuck’s Lake Shore Inn, Harpoon Willies, Lucke’s Cantina, Pier 290, Bar 55 and Mars Resort.
