Library foundation plans to distribute funds
The Lake Geneva Public Library Foundation, a nonprofit organization, is announcing that three local organizations are the recipients of their investment fund balance as the foundation plans to dissolve at the end of 2023.
The foundation was originally organized in 1992 to create a long-term supplemental funding program for library projects and services not supported through traditional tax-based funding.
In recent years, the library has been fully funded by the city and county, with nearly $1 million annual budget in 2023, and few requests have been submitted to the foundation for additional funding.
In addition, the library is scheduled to receive $705,000 from the city for capital improvement projects during the next five years.
As a result, the foundation will divide its remaining funds among three local organizations that support youth and education. The Lake Geneva Public Library will receive the highest proportion of the funds.
The Geneva Lakes Family YMCA and the Lake Geneva Children's Museum will each receive equal contributions. This fulfills the foundation's goal of supporting education programs within the community, while meeting immediate programming needs for the YMCA and children's museum.
