LOOK AHEAD
Brunch, cards, flowers — how about something original this Mother's Day?
Show the most important woman in your life a Mother's Day to remember this weekend for Mother's Day, which is Sunday, May 10.
Take a boat cruise or a train ride, dive into the rich history of women in the region, go on a safari.
Here are some suggestions for those with a Mom who wants to do something different this Mother's Day.

Fancy dinner, remarkable women & a safari On Saturday, May, 9, the East Troy Electric Railroad has its Mother's Day Dinner Train.
Seemingly modeled after a more commonplace event during the nascent days of train travel, the dinner train is pretty much what it says it is — dinner on a train.
The railroad leaves from its East Troy depot to a stop along Lower Phantom Lake, then a layover at Indianhead Park.
Each dinner car seats 50 in tables of two and four; and has both a full cash bar and restrooms onboard.
Mother's Day Dinner Train tickets are $125 each. For more, go to easttroyrr.org/dinner-trains. html.
The more nautically-inclined Mom may like the next two options.
Remarkable Women of Lake Genevais May 10, 12:30-4 p.m.
Guests will embark on a Lake Geneva Cruise Line boat tour of Geneva Lake.
Along the tour is a special visit to Black Point Estate, the Queen Anne-style home of Chicago beer baron Conrad Seipp built in 1888.
Not only is this a boat tour and a trip to one of the most iconic properties along Geneva Lake, the focus remains on the lives and legacies of trailblazing women who lived in the area.
Tickets range from $2 for infants to $75 for adults. Go to cruiselakegeneva.com.
One does not have to go far from Lake Geneva to take the Mother's Day Boat Tour May 10, 11 a.m.2:30 p.m., at Lake Lawn Resort in Delavan.
Guests will board the Lake Lawn Queen for a Delavan Lake tour.
Mothers will receive a complimentary ticket with the purchase of one paid child or adult ticket.
Costs are $12 ages 4-12, $25 for adults.
But what if Mom only wants to see some exotic animals this Mother's Day? Turn to Safari Lake Geneva.
Just east of Lake Geneva is a drive-through animal park home to creatures from around the world.
Alpacas, camels, antelopes, emus, llamas, zebras, giraffes, ostriches, bison, yaks and more can be found in the park.
People can see the animals and feed them from their own vehicles — as long as they stick to the formulated grain guests can purchase specifically for the feeding.
To visit, make reservations online at safarilakegeneva.com.
As of press time, tickets ranged from $19.95 to $29.95.
