RENDERING FROM LAKE GENEVA PLAN COMMISSION MEETING PACKET
A downtown Lake Geneva restaurant could have a new, exterior look in the future .
The Lake Geneva Plan Commission unanimously approved on Sept. 21 a downtown design review to allow for facade and sign improvements to occur at Simple Cafe, 525 Broad St.
The project is set to include the installation of a new awning, a building sign, two blade signs and repainting the exterior of the building.
"This is a refresh of the facade on the existing Simple Cafe," Building and Zoning Administrator Renee Hanlon said.
The Plan Commission also unanimously approved a downtown design review to allow the Geneva Lake Arts Foundation to install a sandwich board sign near Gallery 223 at 223 Broad St., under the condition that they obtain a sign permit and that the sign be no more than 36 inches in height.
A rendering of the sign indicated that it would be 40 inches in height, but a city ordinance does not allow sandwich board signs to be no more than 36 inches.
In other business, the Plan Commission unanimously approved a downtown design review to allow a sandwich board sign to be installed near the Board Shop, 259 Broad St., under the condition that the business owners obtain a sign permit.
The Plan Commission unanimously denied a conditional use permit for a 4-foot fence to be installed at 533 Spring St. A city ordinance states that the maximum height for a fence located in a street yard is 3 feet.
However, the conditional use permit still has to be voted on by the City Council.
