Creativity will serve children well at Camp Invention this summer
BURLINGTON — By encouraging the exploration of innovation, Camp Invention could keep children learning valuable skills over the summer.
A nationally recognized, nonprofit summer enrichment program, the camp will be at Karcher Middle School July 27-31.
The school is located at 300 Wainwright Ave., Burlington.
Camp Invention is a National Inventors Hall of Fame program in partnership with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
According to a Camp Invention press release, it promotes STEM learning by building confidence, leadership, perseverance and resourcefulness while also encouraging entrepreneurship in a fun environment.
Each year, there are curriculum points inspired by the nation's most impactful inventors — National Inventors Hall of Fame inductees.
This year's Camp Invention features include:
Space Morphers: Build a DIY rocket and launch a mission to transform the atmosphere, terrain and ecosystem of a new planet. Collect data and samples after a high-energy Rover Race, grow dazzling crystal trees and hatch a mysterious animal egg in a Space Lab.
Make Waves: Inspired by a surfer's journey, campers will attempt to build a billboard boat, creating prototypes, pitching their products to hook investors and more.
Fur-ensics: Children will sharpen their animal detective skills by investigating a trail of footprints and other evidence with Cap E. Bara and a fleet of robotic capybaras.
The Infringers: Use invention superpowers to solve challenges in the community and abroad while safeguarding their designs using cryptography and protecting their intellectual property from the Infringers.
All local Camp Invention programs are facilitated and taught by qualified educators who reside and teach in the community.
Every year, Camp Invention serves 147,000 students and partners with over 2,600 schools and districts across the nation.
