“The Gumps” was a comic strip that ran in newspapers from 1917 to 1959. It was about an ordinary family, of which the patriarch was Andy Gump. Pictured is the statue of Gump that stands in Lake Geneva’s Flat Iron Park, with the Riviera offto the left. The statue honors “Gumps” creator Sidney Smith, who had a lakefront studio in Lake Geneva.
