After being closed for the 2025 season, the 73-year-old Highway 18 Outdoor Theatre west of Jefferson reopened Thursday. The 20-acre property has a new owner and is open Thursdays through Sundays.
Alma Herrmann of Racine and Tommy Pethan, who lives in the Cross Plains area, met on Thursday at the Highway 18 Outdoor Theatre near Jefferson to take in two movies. As “The Greatest Showman,” began, the couple shared the back of a van. The second movie of the night was “Bohemian Rhapsody.” The drive-in is one of only eight remaining in Wisconsin.
A 1995 Chevy Silverado became a movie lounge on Thursday at the Highway 18 Outdoor Theatre for a group of seniors from Lakeside Lutheran High School in Lake Mills. Jason Fiege purchased the Highway 18 Outdoor Theatre last fall after the theatre was closed for the 2025 season.
